Templeton Thompson Writes Song For Barbaro Documentary

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TEMPLETON THOMPSON WRITES SONG FOR BARBARO DOCUMENTARY
The Making of Alexa King¹s Statue is captured on Film and in Music

April 26, 2010, Kentucky.

The singer-songwriter and Nashville recording artist, Templeton
Thompson, and her musician husband, Sam Gay, have written a song for
the new documentary, Sculpting The Wind; Alexa King & The Making of
the Barbaro Memorial Statue, which chronicles artist Alexa King's
creation of this now famous statue that resides at Churchill Downs.

The song, I Love to Run, captures the essence of the famous Derby
winner who famously fought to overcome catastrophic injuries only to
ultimately lose his battle with laminitis.

A chance meeting between the artist and singer prompted the idea of a
song dedicated to Barbaro, which would be fitting of the new
documentary, Sculpting the Wind produced by Allison Pareis, which
will preview on April 28, 2010 at the Kentucky Derby Museum at
Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby.

"When we were approached to write a song about Barbaro for this
documentary, I have to say I was truly honored & excited at the idea.
Then the truth is I became overwhelmed by the emotion of his story
and by the responsibility of attempting to memorialize in song such a
noble icon of a horse who is loved by so many people," said
singer-songwriter, Templeton Thompson, who collaborated with her
husband, Sam Gay.

The song, which honors Barbaro's life and captures his unique spirit,
is embraced in Thompson's inimitable style with lyrics, which convey
his larger-than-life presence that captured a public's imagination.

The artist, Alexa King, commented, "As I listened to the song, images
were formed with the music and words that evoked a powerful emotion
as it depicted Barbaro's personality and his raison d'etre that will
be forever memorialized."

National Turf Writer¹s Association 2008 Journalism Scholarship
recipient, Allison Pareis, received a grant from PBS to produce a
documentary about King and her journey through creating one of the
most widely recognized and respected equine memorials. The preview of
Sculpting the Wind and a cocktail reception will be held on
Wednesday, April 28, 2010 in the Pollard Gallery at the Kentucky
Derby Museum from 6 8 PM.

Producer, Allison Pareis, is honored to be able to incorporate
Thompson¹s music into the documentary, as she believes it completes
the film¹s story and compliments the imagery of Barbaro.

³It¹s such an evocative song that it has become a part of the
whole fabric of the film and what we were trying to portray. It¹s
thrilling and a great privilege to be able to enhance the story with
Templeton¹s music,² said Pareis.

This is an event worthy of flying in to attend. Log on or call now to reserve spot: http://www.juliegoodnight.com/clinics/clazyu.htmlor call Goodnight's office at (800) 225-8827 for more information. To Register, call 970-887-3344 or email ranch@clazyu.com.

About the Weekend/ Notes from Julie:
Above all else, expect to have a luxurious weekend getaway in the Rocky Mountain splendor of Colorado. Expect five star accommodations, meals and service. Be sure to invite your cow-girl friends, but you'll feel comfortable coming on your own too with a support group of like-minded women. Watch the online video>>

This renowned guest ranch, in cooperation with Julie Goodnight, have put together a riding and yoga retreat for women to entice visitors to the ranch during the shoulder seasons. Take advantage of discounted rates for world-class accommodations with programming riding and yoga included. Spa services are available at the ranch but not a part of the structured retreat. Feel free to participate in as much or as little of the planned program as you want and if you want to schedule time for spa treatments, you may have to cut the other activities a little short. You can schedule spa treatments once you are at the ranch. Some participants will bring their own horses and others will use one of the great trail horses at C Lazy U; board or use of a ranch horse is included in the cost. Please let the ranch know if you are bringing a horse or need one of the ranch horses.

The clinic sessions with Julie Goodnight will be fun and productive with all riders and horses working at their own pace. Julie is there to make sure you have a good time, stay safe and learn something. She is really good at putting everyone at ease and making you feel more confident. From Julie's point of view, she is there for you-not the other way around. It's not about egos or impressing people, it's about you and your horse and making what progress you can while you have a good time.

The yoga sessions are taught by Cathy Benthagen and are oriented toward all levels of students, from never-evers through advanced practitioners. Cathy is an equestrian herself and has developed a style of teaching that enhances your riding skill as you stretch and relax. Bring a yoga mat, a blanket and a water bottle; wear comfortable, stretchy clothes.

Don't worry about your stamina or ability level for the riding or the yoga-be it high or low. Everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace. If you get tired, feel free to sit out a session or end early. If there is an exercise you are not comfortable with, it's perfectly fine to skip it. There's plenty of time for in-depth questions and discussions and personalized attention.

You will be learning alongside all sorts of riders-English and Western, beginner and advanced-- no matter what your level, you'll advance your skills and knowledge tremendously. Spring and fall in the Colorado Mountains can be glorious, with vibrant colors, warm sunny days (usually) and cool crisp nights. As always, in the mountains, the weather can be unpredictable but the ranch has a toasty indoor arena when the weather gets blustery. Be prepared with all-weather gear and layers that will make you comfortable in all four seasons. "Expect to have fun, learn a lot about your horse, enjoy great company and a have a luxurious stay at one of Colorado's premiere guest ranches"

-Julie Goodnight

About Julie Goodnight:

Goodnight is an internationally respected trainer and clinician with experience in many types of training. She grew up riding ponies and horses on an Orlando farm and competed in hunter jumpers throughout her youth. Goodnight counts horses among her earliest friends; she spent many summer days hanging out in the horse pasture and studying how the horses moved and interacted. During her college days in New Mexico, Goodnight earned extra money by warming up Thoroughbreds on the racetrack. The cowgirl felt at home in the west and soon hit the trails and began studying Western disciplines. Always the adventurer, she began leading riders through the Rocky Mountains. As a natural teacher, Goodnight decided to make horses her life's work-and to teach people how to work with horses safely and with kindness. Showing her dedication to teaching and safety, Goodnight earned her Master Instructor and Clinician ranking with the Certified Horsemanship Association (the association she continues to represent as International Spokesperson). She presents clinics and teaches people at horse expos around NorthAmerica. She recently won Equine Affaire's Exceptional Equestrian Educator award-an award only presented three times in the well-known trade show's 15-year history.

Goodnight is now best known for her award-winning television show airing weekly on RFD-TV-Horse Master with Julie Goodnight. Through the show, Goodnight hopes to help all riders master their equestrian dreams and skills. As "The Horse Master," Goodnight shares the wisdom she's gained by reaching her master-level CHA status and encourages all horse people to become the leaders/masters their horses want and deserve. Natural horsemanship is founded on understanding horse behavior and the idea that horses look for leadership, direction and assurance that they're safe and acting appropriately. Goodnight strives to teach you how to master that ideal and emphasizes the importance
of life-long learning.

Troxel Donates Dressage Helmets to Raise Funds for Courtney King-Dye

San Diego, CA – April 20, 2010 – Troxel LLC, the worldwide leader in ASTM/SEI-certified equestrian helmets, has donated more than $2,000 worth of Troxel helmets to an eBay store raising funds for Courtney King-Dye.
King-Dye, a top dressage rider and member of the 2008 Olympic team, suffered a serious head injury after falling from a horse in Florida last month. When her horse stumbled, King-Dye, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was knocked unconscious.

To help offset King-Dye’s medical expenses, Troxel has donated twelve Reliance helmets to be auctioned on an eBay store established by SUCCEED® Digestive Conditioning, one of King-Dye's long-time sponsors. All proceeds from sales will go directly to the Courtney King-Dye Medical Fund. To bid on the items, or participate in this auction, visit http://stores.ebay.com/Courtney-King-Dye-Medical-Fund <http://stores.ebay.com/Courtney-King-Dye-Medical-Fund>

“Troxel has received many letters, emails and phone calls asking for our support to the recovery of Ms. Courtney King-Dye,” said Shay Timms, CEO of Troxel. “We are very touched by this and jumped on the idea to donate our most popular English show and Dressage helmet. We are fully committed to working on fundraising, helmet giveaways and other efforts to support Ms. King-Dye, as well as furthering rider education and acceptance of helmets.”

Earlier this month, Troxel sponsored a contest that demonstrated an increased awareness and support for helmets in the equestrian community. On Equestrian Collections’ Facebook page, visitors were asked to share a story of how a helmet has prevented them from being seriously injured. With more than 100 stories posted, it is the most successful contest on Equestrian Collections’ Facebook page to date.

One of the stories was posted by professional dressage rider Heather Blitz.  Following Courtney King-Dye's accident, Blitz started a campaign to urge more riders to wear helmets.

“I am delighted to support Troxel's initiative in promoting safe riding by making helmet wear a habit for all riders. I have received an overwhelming and positive response to my recent campaign reminding everyone to wear a helmet, no matter what the riding activity," Blitz said. "Horses are horses and we cannot control their every movement, no matter how experienced the rider. We can, however, take responsibility for our own safety by wearing a helmet in all circumstances when we are mounted."
