CHA Alliance Partner American Quarter Horse Association Hosts Reception at AQHA Hall of Fame & Museum at the CHA International Conference

(September 2015) – The CHA International Conference is scheduled for October 22-25 in Amarillo, Texas, and the welcome reception on the first day will be held at the AQHA Hall of Fame and Museum. AQHA's Executive Vice President Craig Huffhines will welcome attendees and do a presentation on Thursday night, October 22. On Friday, the conference will continue at West Texas A&M University's Horse Center (WTAMU) with a variety of presentations and mounted sessions with CHA Master Instructors, horse trainers, veterinarians, and horse industry professionals.

"We are so thankful for CHA instructors who provide the foundation for people to enjoy horses," said Huffhines, who is looking forward to providing attendees with a real "West Texas" experience. "It is their guidance that will help grow horse participation."

AQHA and CHA have been Educational Alliance Partners for over six years. The partnership fosters the exchange of educational materials between the two organizations, improves awareness of each organization with the other's members, and shares resources of each organization for the benefit of the partner organization's members. CHA encourages eligible CHA members to become AQHA Professional Horsemen while AQHA members now have a raised awareness of all of the programs and benefits provided by the Certified Horsemanship Association.

During the dinner, CHA conference attendees will be surrounded by the history of one of America's most prestigious and storied breeds, the American Quarter Horse. The people who have helped shape the Quarter Horse breed and many of the famous notable equines have their history preserved within the walls of the AQHA Hall of Fame and Museum. The AQHA Hall of Fame and Museum features the Wall of Honor Plaza, larger than life bronzes, a historical timeline with inductee displays, an educational gallery with hands-on exhibits, and intricately etched bloodlines preserved in the floor of the Grand Hall. Visitors learn about the Quarter Horse's history as a companion, working ranch partner, racehorse, and as a show competitor.  Many CHA instructors have AQHA school horses, so they can look up their pedigrees.

Craig Huffhines, who is the current Executive Vice President of the world's largest equine breed organization, will present the opening welcome address at the reception. Huffhines has 17 years of executive experience behind him, with much of that at the American Hereford Association as the Executive Vice President since 1997. He has recorded success in turning around a 30-year decline in beef breed registrations and popularity. He has experience managing a livestock breed association, developing a new branded-beef enterprise, and executing and revising governance structures to meet the demands of the 21st Century. His extensive knowledge and passion for the agricultural and livestock industries are easily recognizable.

"I love CHA's WHY Statement, 'CHA changes lives through safe experiences with horses,'" said Huffhines. "The success of CHA is vital to the future of AQHA and the industry. As CHA Past President Ward Stutz said, 'CHA is one of the most important organizations in the horse industry. If we are going to introduce new people to the fun and enjoyment of riding horses, it is crucial that a person's first experience with a horse is safe and fun.'"

AAEP’s Annual Convention in Las Vegas Flush with Opportunities This December

Equine veterinarians will push “all in” on education, networking and entertainment when the American Association of Equine Practitioners’ 61st Annual Convention and Trade Show convenes at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev., Dec. 5-9, 2015.

The annual convention is the world’s largest continuing education event dedicated to equine veterinary practice. In 2009, when the convention was last held in Las Vegas, a record 7,611 equine veterinarians, veterinary students, technicians and exhibitors attended.

With a choice from approximately 100 hours of continuing education credit in various learning formats, equine practitioners will acquire the most current clinical knowledge in diverse and important areas of equine medicine such as field imaging and surgery, foal medicine, internal medicine, lameness, neurology, reproduction, and trauma and wound management. In addition, a new Podiatry Workshop on Saturday, Dec. 5 will enhance practitioners’ understanding of and ability to treat a variety of hoof conformations through morning lectures and afternoon wet labs.

A broad slate of student programming designed to facilitate the transition from veterinary school to practice will include a variety of dry labs and professional development sessions, as well as the traditional Avenues Career Night at which students can explore internship and externship opportunities with representatives from dozens of leading equine practices across North America. As a convenience for students who have final exams the following week, the vast majority of student programming will be held Saturday, Dec. 5 and Sunday, Dec. 6.

Meanwhile, daily networking and social events will connect colleagues and expand professional footprints, while an expansive trade show will offer innovative solutions to practice challenges from more than 300 exhibitors. In addition, the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians will hold its annual meeting in conjunction with the AAEP 2015 Convention

Prospective convention attendees are encouraged to register online by Nov. 6 to receive a $70 discount off the standard registration rate. Additional savings of $50 per night at Mandalay Bay or Delano, or $30 per night at Luxor, are available to those who book their hotel room online by Oct. 6. To register, book a hotel room or view the educational program, visit www.aaep.org/info/annual-convention.

The American Association of Equine Practitioners, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., was founded in 1954 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the health and welfare of the horse. Currently, AAEP reaches more than 5 million horse owners through its over 9,000 members worldwide and is actively involved in ethics issues, practice management, research and continuing education in the equine veterinary profession and horse industry.

Georgia Horses & Riders Apply Now for Horse Master with Julie Goodnight RFD-TV Shoot

September, 2015: Julie Goodnight brings her highly acclaimed RFD-TV show to the Grover River Ranch (https://www.facebook.com/GroveRiverRanchhttp://groveriverranch.com) in Gillsville, Georgia the first week of November, 2015.  Applications --available at http://www.horsemaster.tv --must be submitted online by September 25, 2015. Eight horse and rider teams will be selected to work with Goodnight and be a part of Horse Master episodes produced for RFD-TV. The shooting site will be closed to viewers and auditors.

Each show taped will feature one horse/rider team in each episode, chosen from applicants that have a problematic or difficult horse and/or want to learn a new skill in order to succeed with their usually pleasant mount. Each episode will revolve around a human with a horse problem or a horse with a human who needs to keep learning to master their horsemanship skills. Goodnight is looking for a broad representation of horses, people, disciplines, breeds and issues. She wants to know about your horse's history and your relationship. This is a chance to tell your story and to get help from a pro.

Goodnight will work with each selected horse then help the rider learn to carry out the new training and achieve the desired goals. Each selected cast member and horse is on set for two days during the shoot week.
