THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN HORSE EXPO MARCH 8-11

Showcasing Nationally known Clinicians

DENVER – February 1, 2012 – Thousands of horse lovers from around the region are getting ready for the 20th annual Rocky Mountain Horse Expo, with four-days of horse related family entertainment, education, exhibits, art and demonstrations scheduled for March 9-11 at the National Western complex in Denver. The Expo is produced by the Colorado Horse Council, is “the largest horse industry trade show in the Western United States,”[O1]  claimed Bill Scebbi, the Executive Director of the Colorado Horse Council.

Expo 2012 features every type and size of horse, from show horses to working horses, dancing horses and ponies, and gives horse owners and fans the chance to meet and learn from the region’s leading horse trainers, riders and clinicians.

Highlights this year include the Friday and Saturday night Mane Event performances with professional equine entertainers, and over 45 clinics per day featuring horsemanship workshops, riding, extreme trail, dressage and jumping demonstrations, a holistic horse fair, and nationally known equestrian artists.

The headliners for Expo 2012 are Julie Goodnight, Jane Savoie, Susan Harris, Mark Bolender and Richard Shrake. Each clinician will be teaching a variety of styles and techniques showcasing nationally known workshops.

Julie Goodnight offers dressage, jumping, racing, reining, colt-starting and wilderness riding offering special classes in Canter Master and Natural Ride. Jane Savoie’s visibility as a dressage competitor, coach, instructor, clinician, speaker, and author makes her truly unique within the English community. As an internationally renowned trainer, Richard Shrake has experience as a judge and clinician who has designed a collection of bits, the Resistance Free® Bit Series to help improve and ride while being conscious of the horse and style.

“If you love horses, you will love the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo,” said Bill Scebbi. “We have something for everyone and you can even bring your own horse.”

What Julie’s Clinic Attendees Say:
I have nothing but the highest praise for my experience. Julie was always calm, low-key, positive about every rider and every horse, and, an excellent teacher. I liked the fact that she was teaching horsemanship and all of us, togetherwith our horses, could learn something from each session. I would recommend her to anyone at any level interested in becoming a better rider.

Julie Goodnight conducts horsemanship clinics for all disciplines (English and Western) and all ability levels, at various private and public facilities in North America. Clinics are fun and active, with a focus on bridging natural horsemanship techniques with the principles of classical riding. Julie's teachings are focused on finding success and improvement for each and every horse and rider by developing a deeper understanding of the horse and riding skills that lead to a balanced and rhythmic rider and a light and responsive horse. Clinics are each two days, 9-5, and there are a maximum of fifteen riders in the clinic. (The CTRC special event is a one-day event.)
Expect to work together in the arena all day, doing both ground work and mounted work, with a focus on refining riding skills and developing a better relationship with your horse. All ability levels are welcome as long as the rider has basic control at the walk and trot. Each rider works at his/her own pace without pressure to go outside you or your horse’s comfort zone. You may bring two horses if you want to; the only additional charge is for stalling. Click here for a detailed PDF: http://juliegoodnight.com/images/clinicprep.pdf

Certified Horsemanship Association is Awarded Colorado Horse Development Authority Grant

(January 2012) – The Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) has been awarded a 2012 grant from the Colorado Horse Development Authority (CHDA). The CHDA Grant Program was created to help uphold the mission of the Colorado Horse Development Authority, "to promote and sustain the growth and development of the horse industry."  The grant was awarded to CHA to conduct an advertising/marketing campaign to reach beginning riders, both youth and adult, in Colorado and be able to track their involvement during the year by having them take riding lessons at CHA Program Member equine facilities or from certified CHA Riding Instructor Members throughout the state.

“We are excited about this receiving this grant,” says Christy Landwehr Chief Executive Officer for CHA. “We feel that it will be a great way to spread the word about the sport of horseback riding to potential beginning riders in the state of Colorado through non-traditional advertising and then be able to track those riders’ progress and hopefully keep them involved in the horse industry for years to come.”

The purpose of CHA is to promote excellence in safety and education for the benefit of the horse industry. CHA certifies instructors and trail guides, accredits equestrian facilities, publishes educational manuals, produces educational horsemanship DVDs and hosts regional and international conferences. For more information on the Certified Horsemanship Association, please visit www.CHA-ahse.org or call toll free (800) 399-0138.  To find a certified horseback riding instructor or accredited equine facility near you visit www.CHAinstructors.com.

Colorado Horse Development Authority (CHDA) was created by an Act of the State Legislature and is responsible for the collection, distribution, and program accountability for the Horse Promotion Assessment. The programs funded by the Colorado Horse Development Authority are designed to stimulate, by research, education, advertising, and other methods, Colorado’s multi-billion dollar horse industry. The mission of the Colorado Horse Development Authority is to promote and sustain the growth and development of the horse industry. For more information on CHDA visit http://www.chda.org/ or call (303) 292-4981.
