Each of Goodnight’s Clinic Tours provides an opportunity for horse owners to ride with Goodnight. Audiences are also invited—to watch and learn in a friendly environment for a nominal cost. Clinics are open to 15 riders ($450 per horse and rider pair) and unlimited audiences ($25 adult tickets; $10 for youths 18 and under when you purchase online).
Goodnight enjoys working with horses and horse owners and strives to make sure each clinic attendee feels safe and relaxed. “I love the opportunity to work in depth with the horses and their owners, the way I can at clinics—checking tack fit, evaluating the horse, assessing rider skill and seeing how they work together as a team and what their next step is,” she says. “Often there are little adjustments that make a world of difference to the horse. I spend a lot of my time throughout the year giving advice to horse owners through the Internet and in person at expos, but in both cases I don’t get to see the horse. Seeing things from the horse’s point of view always makes it easier for me to help the rider. Clinics are a more intimate venue and I enjoy getting to know people, working with many horses in one setting and the more casual atmosphere that we have at horsemanship clinics.”
Goodnight prepared a PDF sheet to help you understand the clinic process. Download the clinic guide at http://juliegoodnight.com/images/clinicprep.pdf <http://juliegoodnight.com/images/clinicprep.pdf> . Julie Goodnight Tested and Approves Bucas Blankets for Horses¹ Turnout and Coat-saving Protection

SALIDA, CO, November 18, 2010– Julie Goodnight’s horse Dually is notorious for destroying most any blanket or fly sheet—but not the “Power Turnout--Extra” Bucas Blanket he’s worn well for more than a year. Beginning last winter, Goodnight (equine clinician and host of Horse Master on RFD-TV) tested the Bucas blanket made of a ballistic nylon outer shell to reflect the sunlight and backed with aluminum to reflect body heat back on to the horse. The quick-wicking inner fleece removes moisture and keeps the horse dry. She’s now pleased to endorse the full product line and recommend Bucas Blankets to all horse owners. Find out more at http://www.juliegoodnight.com/bucas and watch Goodnight’s video about the blankets: http://www.youtube.com/juliegoodnight#p/u/13/uLLskwiaPE4.
Goodnight and Bucas are also pleased to announce a new addition to the blanket line up: The Shamrock Power Cooler has a dual layer of Stay Dry® fleece lining to rapidly dry a wet horse. The antibacterial/antifungal properties of the lining next to the horse keep the cooler fresh. The outer layer of Stay Dry lining has a low friction finish to minimize the amount of bedding material that sticks.
“I want to make sure that when I load my personal horse, Dually, in the trailer or turn him out to run in the pasture that he is protected as much as possible,” Goodnight says. “In 2009, I was fortunate to discover blankets from Bucas--an Irish company that uses high-tech materials and superior design features to keep the horses comfortable and cozy in all four seasons. The shape and cut of the blankets are far more comfortable than other brands I have used, fitting really well at the shoulders and withers, with a remarkable attention to detail. The durability of Bucas blankets is exceptional—after a full year of use, Dually’s heavy blanket looked brand new after its annual washing (and he is notoriously tough on blankets). Since our horses get turned out with other horses with their blankets on, they can be pretty tough on them.
“Our horses wear blankets or sheets all year long,” Goodnight says. “This is not just for aesthetic reasons but has practical implications since we ride indoors all winter and a long, wet hair coat is difficult to deal with in below freezing temps. The Bucas Blankets have a special inside liner that has so much wicking ability that you can put it on a wet horse and he will dry quickly. It makes me feel good to pamper my horses. I love looking at our beautiful horses with slick and shiny coats, vibrant dapples and rippling muscles. Over the years I have found that it is less expensive over time to pay for a high quality blanket that will last for years. Before Bucas, I tried many inexpensive and ill-fitting blankets that fell apart in the middle of the winter.”
The NEW Bucas Products:
The Power Turnout--Extra: This is the premium Bucas turnout. A tough ballistic nylon outer shell backed with aluminum reflects the sunlight and reflects body heat back on to the horse. The Stay-Dry fleece lining rapidly wicks moisture away from the horse’s body and has antibacterial/ antifungal properties. The body design has the Bucas neck darts for a superior fit. 69”-84”. Temperature Range: -22ºF to 62ºF; Click ’n Go closure system with Stainless Steel buckle; Overlapping comfort front with double padding; Shoulder darts for extra shoulder room and a perfect fit; All Stainless Steel hardware; Ballistic nylon outer for ultimate strength; Waterproof and breathable coating; Heat-reflective aluminum coating keeps the horse warm; Stay-Dry lining wicks moisture away; Anti-bacterial lining to protect your horse and keep the blanket fresh; 300g thermo-bonded polyester wadding; Soft nylon lining of the shoulder area to prevent rubbing; Reflective strips on tail flap and front corners; Elastic leg straps; Covered attachment points for a Combi-Neck option.

Shamrock Power Cooler: New! The Shamrock Power Cooler has a dual layer of Stay Dry fleece lining to rapidly dry a wet horse. The antibacterial/antifungal properties of the lining next to the horse keep the cooler fresh. The outer layer of Stay Dry lining has a low friction finish to minimize the amount of bedding material that sticks. 69”-84” in black or navy. Dual-layer Stay-Dry fabric for maximum strength and wicking capacity; Stay-Dry lining wicks moisture away and ensures that the horse is always dry; Anti-bacterial lining to protect your horse and keep the blanket fresh; Low friction outer finish minimizes the amount of bedding material that sticks; Comfort Front Pad provides additional comfort and protects from front straps and fasteners; Shoulder darts for extra shoulder room and a perfect fit; Cross surcingles to keep the blanket in place; Tail String included; Attachments for leg straps.

More About Bucas:
Bucas designs, creates and makes high performance horse blankets. Bucas was founded in 1981 in Cork, Ireland by the Casselbrant family. Since the beginning, Bucas has merged the great Irish equestrian tradition with the latest technical developments and experience. In 1982, Bucas produced the first high-performance, water-resistant turnout blanket. Bucas has also perfected the "Stay-Dry" principle of using wicking linings that transport sweat and moisture away from the horse while the inside of the lining remains dry. In the 1990s, Bucas developed the first truly light-weight, fully waterproof and breathable turnout for use at higher temperatures than ordinary turnout rugs. Bucas also introduced sun-reflective rugs and anti-bacterial linings. In 2000 Bucas hit the market with the revolutionary Buzz-Off® full body fly and UV protection blanket.
