SALIDA, CO, April 2, 2012: On her newest DVD in the “From the Ground Up” series, Goodnight works with a young horse (Picabo YC of Colorado’s Yarmony Creek Sport Horses) who had been trained well in the round pen and learned to lead well by halter—and had even learned to understand bit pressure. The filly had never been ridden until the taping of the Ready to Ride DVD. The DVD explains Julie’s philosophies of what’s typically called “colt starting” and explains a low-stress training process to help the horse prepare well for life as a respectful riding partner. The DVD is on sale now at http://shoppling.JulieGoodnight.com.

Join Julie as she guides you through the first ride. Shot over five days and with an amazing young filly who had been prepared with the methods taught on the previous DVDs in Goodnight’s training series, Round Pen Reasoning, Lead Line Leadership and Bit Basics, Julie shows you that starting a horse under saddle doesn't have to be dramatic orscary. Broken down into steps you can understand and apply, you'll find this DVD a great resource as you train your horse!

“We chose the perfect filly for this DVD—she was properly prepared, her training progressed well, and she showed the typical reactions of a young horse starting under-saddle. I hope people will see from this video that when youtake your time and use a systematic approach to training, colt-starting doesn’t have to be wild and traumatic,” says Goodnight.

This DVD is a thorough, step-by-step process for introducing a horse to the rider, once the horse has had round pen, lead line and bitting work. This video includes first saddling, first mounting, first ride and teaching cues to the horse. Approximately 2 hours.

Released in April 2012: $39.95.
